IPFS
IPFS is a content-addressed peer-to-peer file system: files are referenced by the hash of their content rather than by a server location. NFTs commonly use IPFS to host the image and metadata, since storing them on-chain would be far too expensive. IPFS pins need active maintenance — files only stay available as long as at least one node keeps them.
