KYC (Know Your Customer)
KYC is the identity-verification process regulated financial entities use to onboard customers — government ID, proof of address, sometimes more. In crypto, KYC mostly happens at the on/off-ramps: centralized exchanges, fiat gateways, regulated stablecoin issuers. Most on-chain protocols themselves are permissionless and do no KYC.
