EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine)
The EVM is the runtime that executes Ethereum smart contracts. It is a deterministic, sandboxed environment that takes a contract's bytecode plus a transaction's inputs and produces a state change. The EVM is also what HyperEVM and dozens of other chains implement, which is why a Solidity contract written for Ethereum can usually be redeployed elsewhere with minor changes.
