Immutable Ledger
An immutable ledger cannot be edited after the fact: once a block is finalized, its contents stay. The property is what makes a blockchain useful as a system of record. "Immutable" here means computationally expensive to alter, not literally impossible — a hard fork can rewrite history if enough participants agree.
