BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance)
Byzantine Fault Tolerance is a property of distributed systems: they reach the correct state even when some participants lie, crash, or send conflicting messages. Most modern proof-of-stake chains, including Hyperliquid, use a BFT-derived consensus algorithm that finalizes blocks once two-thirds of stake-weighted validators agree. The classical bound is that a BFT system stays safe as long as fewer than one-third of participants are faulty.
