Cryptographic Hash Function
A cryptographic hash function takes an input of arbitrary length and produces a fixed-size output (256 bits for SHA-256 or Keccak-256). The function is deterministic, fast to compute, and computationally infeasible to invert or to find two distinct inputs hashing to the same output. Blockchains use hashes everywhere: transaction IDs, block headers, Merkle trees, address derivation.
