Fraud Proof
A fraud proof is a piece of data showing that a state transition was invalid. Optimistic rollups assume submitted batches are correct by default and rely on anyone (a "watcher") to post a fraud proof during a challenge window if something is wrong. The model trades immediate finality for cheap execution.
