Governance Token
A governance token grants voting weight in a protocol's decision-making. The token may also capture protocol revenue, control a treasury, or have no economic claim at all — designs vary widely. Token-voting governance has known weaknesses: low turnout, plutocracy, and the constant question of whether the token actually has a credible claim on protocol value.
