Token
A token is an asset issued on a blockchain through a smart contract, rather than being the chain's native unit. ERC-20 and SPL are the two largest token standards. Tokens can represent currencies, governance rights, in-protocol receipts (LP positions, lending receipts), or anything else a contract chooses to encode.
