Hash
A hash is the fixed-length output of a cryptographic hash function. In a blockchain context it identifies blocks, transactions, contract code, and Merkle tree nodes. Two pieces of data that hash to the same value are effectively impossible to find by chance, which is the property that makes hashes useful as identifiers and integrity checks.
