Proof of Stake (PoS)
In proof-of-stake, validators are selected to produce blocks based on the amount of native token they have staked. Misbehavior is punished by slashing a portion of that stake. PoS replaces the energy cost of proof-of-work with an economic cost: attacking the chain means losing the stake you put up to attack it.
